Renoir Wall Art

This tag marks every painting in the shop by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and exists so his work can be found as a body regardless of which subject collection a given picture also sits in. Renoir spent his career painting people at ease, in gardens, at dances, on riverbanks and in front rooms, rendering them in warm, rounded brushwork that reads as comfortable, not dramatic, which is part of why his pictures have remained so widely loved outside specialist circles. What holds his work together across a portrait, a bather and a bouquet of flowers is less the subject than the hand behind it: pink, gold and soft green recur in almost everything he painted, and the paint itself stays soft-edged and unhurried even in his busiest compositions. A room built around that hand, more than around any one theme, tends to feel settled and sociable, which is why collectors of Renoir specifically often mix subjects freely once they have found the palette they want on their walls.
