Description
A rounded green vase holds a full bouquet of roses in deep pink, rose red and soft yellow, their large ruffled heads set among dense green foliage. The flowers are arranged loosely so that some blooms lean forward toward the viewer while others recede into shadow behind the leaves.
Renoir sets the warm pinks and yellows of the petals against a golden brown background, using thick, richly loaded strokes to build up the roses while the green glazed vase is rendered with cooler, more fluid touches of blue and green. The contrast gives the still life real depth and warmth.
Painted in 1911, this piece is offered as a hand painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival giclee canvas print, a faithful reproduction for your own walls rather than the original painting.
