Description

A wide country road curves gently between two rows of tall, slender trees under a soft blue sky scattered with pale clouds. On the right a woman in a dark skirt and white blouse walks beneath the trees carrying a pale parasol, while further along the road a horse drawn cart is visible heading away from the viewer.

Renoir renders the foliage in dense, feathery strokes of green and yellow green, letting light filter through the canopy in patches, while the road itself is built from warm tans and soft blues that suggest dappled sunlight and shadow across the packed earth. A low building appears at the lower right edge, anchoring the scene in a real place.

Painted in 1895 and held at the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille, this landscape is offered as a hand painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival giclee canvas print, a faithful reproduction rather than the museum original.

The craft

The oil edition of this Renoir artwork is painted by hand on canvas. A canvas art print reproduces the image in ink, with the brushmarks visible in the picture rather than raised paint.

  • Oil editions painted individually by studio artists
  • Canvas prints reproduce the image on canvas
  • Individually quality-inspected before it leaves the studio
  • Made to order in your chosen size and presentation

Materials & Care

Materials

The oil reproduction is painted on cotton canvas; the art print is printed on canvas. Rolled canvas arrives without a stretcher. Stretched canvas is mounted on a wooden stretcher frame; thin and thick frames are separate presentation choices.

On request, the studio provides a certificate for your hand-painted reproduction; it certifies the studio's work, not an original by the artist.

Care

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid cleaning products, prolonged direct sunlight and damp conditions.

Sizing

Choose a size and presentation in the options above. Both editions keep the original image proportions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is the original, and can my reproduction match it?

The original at the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille measures approximately 32.5 x 41.5 cm. We can reproduce it at that scale or adjust it to a standard or custom size for your wall.

Do you offer this landscape hand painted rather than printed?

Yes. Choose a hand painted oil reproduction made on canvas by a trained artist, or an archival giclee canvas print using fade resistant inks. Both are faithful reproductions of the 1895 original, not the painting itself.

How is this piece delivered?

Every reproduction is made to order and shipped worldwide, arriving ready to hang. Hand painted oil reproductions take longer to produce than canvas prints, since each one is painted individually by hand.
