Description

A young woman in a white satin gown rests her head against a red velvet cushioned chair, eyes lowered, a small bouquet of red, gold and blue flowers held loosely in both hands. Her dark hair is cut in a short fringe, and the whole scene sits against near black shadow.

The white satin catches nearly all the light in the picture, its folds built from thick, confident strokes, while the deep red cushion and dark background push the sitter’s pale dress and skin forward.
