Description
A sandy path climbs gently between banks of flowering mimosa, their branches heavy with clusters of small yellow blossoms that light up both sides of the canvas. Behind the shrubs a rugged grey and mauve cliff face rises against a pale blue sky streaked with soft white cloud.
Touches of orange and rust appear among the yellow blooms, and the loose, rapid brushwork gives the whole scene the flicker of a warm afternoon spent outdoors in the hills above the coast, a favourite motif for Renoir in his later years in the south of France.
The original belongs to the collection of Museo Soumaya. What is offered here is a faithful reproduction, either a hand-painted oil version on canvas, recreated stroke by stroke by a professional painter, or an archival canvas print made with fade-resistant pigment inks, available in a range of sizes.
