Description
A garden is divided in two: on the left, tall blue-green iris leaves and loose flowering shrubs grow wild along a grassy path; on the right, neat rows of olive and fruit trees stand in an orderly grove over warm red brown earth.
Painted late in Renoir’s life at his property in the south of France, the sketch captures the two faces of his own garden at once, informal and cultivated, in quick, loaded strokes of green, red and gold.
Reproduced as a hand-painted oil on canvas or as an archival canvas print, at its original 27.3 by 46.4 centimeters or scaled to any size, framed or unframed.
