Description
This close variant shows the same young girl bent over her sewing, her copper red hair loose around her shoulders and gathered with a pale, white edged ribbon. Small blue stitch marks are visible on the white cloth she holds, and the back of a wooden chair peeks in at the right edge of the canvas.
Where the companion version glows against solid blue, here Renoir sets the figure against a darker ground that shifts from near black on one side to teal blue on the other, throwing her pink smock and lit face into sharper relief. The brushwork in the hair remains loose and warm, gold and auburn strokes catching the light.
This portrait is offered as a hand-painted oil reproduction or an archival canvas print, made to order in the size you choose and true to the proportions of Renoir’s original.
