Description
Renoir paints a young girl seated on the ground in a woodland clearing, her legs drawn up beneath a full pink skirt banded in green and yellow, and a loose white blouse gathered at the waist. A wide straw hat wrapped in white fabric shades her face as she turns to look off to the side, her long chestnut hair spilling down her back.
Around her the scene is built from dense, loosely brushed greens, the dark mass of trees closing in behind her and opening only in the upper left where a patch of blue sky and cloud breaks through.
The painting belongs to the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. What is offered here is not that original but a faithful reproduction: a hand-painted oil version on canvas, or an archival canvas print made with fade-resistant pigment inks, available in a range of sizes from close to the original small study up to a larger wall feature.
