Description

A bearded man in a straw hat and dark jacket sits close beside a woman in a pale blue and white dress, her wide straw hat trimmed with a red flower. Both look down together at a paper he holds between them, and a small white fluffy dog rests at the woman’s feet in the grass. They are seated in a shaded garden, dense green foliage rising behind them.

Also titled Secrets, this painting dates from about 1874 and is held by the Portland Museum of Art.

It is available as a hand-painted oil reproduction on artist-grade canvas or as an archival giclee canvas print, made to order in the size you choose, available framed or unframed, and shipped worldwide.

The craft

The oil edition of this Renoir artwork is painted by hand on canvas. A canvas art print reproduces the image in ink, with the brushmarks visible in the picture rather than raised paint.

  • Oil editions painted individually by studio artists
  • Canvas prints reproduce the image on canvas
  • Individually quality-inspected before it leaves the studio
  • Made to order in your chosen size and presentation

Materials & Care

Materials

The oil reproduction is painted on cotton canvas; the art print is printed on canvas. Rolled canvas arrives without a stretcher. Stretched canvas is mounted on a wooden stretcher frame; thin and thick frames are separate presentation choices.

On request, the studio provides a certificate for your hand-painted reproduction; it certifies the studio's work, not an original by the artist.

Care

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid cleaning products, prolonged direct sunlight and damp conditions.

Sizing

Choose a size and presentation in the options above. Both editions keep the original image proportions.
