Description

An elegant young woman sits with her blonde hair swept up, one arm extended to rest a closed hand on a small round gilt table where a single pink rose lies beside it. She wears a pale blue satin dress with long sleeves, a high ruffled collar tied with a cream ribbon, and a wide cream sash at the waist, the fabric catching light in broad, fluid strokes.

Behind her, a tall vase of white and pink peonies stands on a gilded cabinet, and the wall is painted in warm rose-pink, with a heavy gold curtain tie visible at the left edge. The whole room glows with warm pink light against which the cool blue of her dress stands out sharply, a favourite contrast in Renoir’s society portraits.

We reproduce this portrait as a hand-painted oil reproduction on canvas, painted by hand to capture its rich colour and fluid drapery, or as an archival giclee canvas print from a high-resolution scan of the original at the Petit Palais. Both are reproductions made for your home, not the original painting.

The craft

The oil edition of this Renoir artwork is painted by hand on canvas. A canvas art print reproduces the image in ink, with the brushmarks visible in the picture rather than raised paint.

  • Oil editions painted individually by studio artists
  • Canvas prints reproduce the image on canvas
  • Individually quality-inspected before it leaves the studio
  • Made to order in your chosen size and presentation

Materials & Care

Materials

The oil reproduction is painted on cotton canvas; the art print is printed on canvas. Rolled canvas arrives without a stretcher. Stretched canvas is mounted on a wooden stretcher frame; thin and thick frames are separate presentation choices.

On request, the studio provides a certificate for your hand-painted reproduction; it certifies the studio's work, not an original by the artist.

Care

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid cleaning products, prolonged direct sunlight and damp conditions.

Sizing

Choose a size and presentation in the options above. Both editions keep the original image proportions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes are available for this reproduction?

This portrait is offered in a range of standard reproduction sizes. The original at the Petit Palais measures 117 x 89 cm, and we can reproduce it close to that scale or adjust it larger or smaller to suit your wall.

Is this a hand-painted reproduction or a print?

Both options are available. Our hand-painted oil reproductions are painted on canvas by an artist, matching the fluid brushwork and rich colour of the original. Our archival giclee canvas prints use pigment inks on canvas. Neither is the original painting, which hangs at the Petit Palais.

How is my order produced and delivered?

Every order is made to order and shipped worldwide, arriving stretched and ready to hang. Hand-painted oil reproductions take longer to produce than canvas prints, since each is painted individually by hand.
