Description

Jeune femme debout près d’une ferme à Milly shows a wide rural landscape with a small figure of a woman in a dark skirt and red top standing near a farmhouse. The house has pale yellow walls and a red-tiled roof, partly hidden by trees, and sits in a stretch of open green pasture crossed by a rough wooden fence.

Behind the farm, rolling purple-blue hills rise toward a sky filled with soft, billowing clouds in white, grey and lilac. Renoir paints the whole scene with broad, loose strokes, giving equal weight to the land and sky and leaving the woman as a small, quiet presence in the middle distance.
