Description
A nude woman sits outdoors, one hand raised to twist a lock of her auburn hair while the other wrings water from a white cloth draped across her lap, droplets falling from the fabric near a hidden spring. Her skin is rendered in warm, blended pinks and creams, and behind her a dense screen of golden wheat-like stalks and green foliage rises against a strip of pale blue sky.
The soft, rounded modeling of the figure against the loosely brushed golden field is characteristic of Renoir’s late nudes, where the body seems to glow with the same warm light as the surrounding landscape. This canvas is dated 1914 in the artist’s own hand at the lower left.
This work is offered as a hand-painted oil reproduction or as an archival canvas print, made to order in a range of sizes that keep the proportions of the original canvas, drawn from the version held by the Ohara Museum of Art.
