Description
From a high vantage point on Montmartre, Renoir looks down over a tangle of green gardens and rooftops toward a hazy view of Paris beyond. Sand-colored and pale orange buildings cluster at the center, their red-tiled roofs catching warm light, while a wide, cloud-filled sky in blue, grey, and cream takes up more than half the canvas above them.
The foreground is a thick tangle of green and gold brushstrokes, bushes and small garden structures painted loosely, so the eye moves quickly from the tended hillside to the open, atmospheric distance. This painting is held by the Barnes Foundation, and our reproduction keeps the original’s proportions.
Available as a hand-painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival canvas print, made to order in the size of your choice.
