Description

A young woman sits on a rock at the edge of a pond, her white chemise slipped down to her waist as she raises both arms to gather up her long auburn hair. Her pink skirt falls in soft folds around her, and her bare feet rest among wildflowers growing at the water’s edge.

Around her, autumn trees in gold and rust color the far bank and reflect in the still blue water, under a bright sky scattered with clouds, a warm, sunlit setting typical of the outdoor bather and toilette scenes Renoir painted throughout the mid 1880s.
