Description
A row of houses, a two story blue grey villa flanked by lighter buildings, lines the far bank of the Seine at Chatou under a pale, overcast sky. A tiny figure in white walks near the shoreline, dwarfed by the buildings and the wide expanse of low, muddy river water in front of them.
In the foreground, tall grasses and reeds rendered in loose green and ochre strokes rise along the near bank, while the exposed mudflats and shallow water at low tide are painted in streaks of grey, brown and pale green.
The original belongs to the Art Gallery of Ontario. What is offered here is not that original but a faithful reproduction: a hand-painted oil version on canvas, recreated stroke by stroke by a professional painter, or an archival canvas print made with fade-resistant pigment inks, available in a range of sizes to suit any wall.
