Description
Seen from the side and slightly behind, a woman leans forward absorbed in a book or newspaper held open before her. Her dark reddish hair is pinned up, and she wears a loose green blouse with full, gathered sleeves that dominate the canvas in soft, blended brushwork. The surrounding room is rendered in warm rust and amber tones, giving the whole small canvas a glowing, intimate feel.
Painted in 1894 and now in the Musee d’Orsay, this compact work measures just 26.5 by 21 cm, a close, private glimpse of a quiet moment.
The Green Reader can be reproduced as a hand-painted oil copy on canvas or as an archival canvas print, made to order in the size you need and ready to hang on arrival.
