Description
This is a sketch sheet rather than a single finished scene: Renoir fills the canvas with several small studies painted side by side in loose, sun-warmed color. A seated nude figure with her arm raised to her hair appears at upper right, reclining nude figures stretch across the lower half, and scattered among them are quick studies of children’s heads and a woman wearing a straw hat, all set against washes of green, yellow and pink that suggest an outdoor landscape.
Painted in 1885 and now held at the Art Institute of Chicago, Studies of Pierre Renoir; His Mother, Aline Charigot; Nudes; and Landscape is available as a hand-painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival canvas print, made to order in a range of sizes and ready to hang.
