Description
A young woman sits on a sunlit riverbank, seen largely from behind and in profile, her bare back and shoulders painted in warm, luminous flesh tones. A thin blue ribbon rests loosely at her throat, and pale drapery is bunched around her hips and legs as she looks off toward the water. Behind her, thick strokes of green willow foliage crowd the bank, while a patch of blue-green river catches the light at her side.
The whole scene is built from short, visible brushstrokes, warm pinks and creams for the skin set against cool greens and blues in the landscape, the kind of intimate outdoor bather study Renoir returned to often in this period.
This painting is offered as a hand-painted oil reproduction or as an archival canvas print, made to order in sizes that keep the proportions of the original 46.5 x 38.3 cm canvas.
