Description

Large pink and white roses fill most of this canvas, their heavy, ruffled heads leaning together in a loose cluster of foliage. In the upper left corner Renoir opens a small window onto a garden beyond, a soft blur of trees and autumn colored shrubs under a pale sky, so the flowers appear to have been picked from the very ground shown behind them.

The roses themselves are built from thick, wet strokes of pink and cream, with deeper rose and touches of scarlet marking the shadowed centers of the blooms. Green leaves are laid in broadly, almost abstractly, giving the whole surface a loose, tactile energy typical of Renoir’s late still life work.

This piece, held at the Phoenix Art Museum, is offered here as a hand painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival giclee canvas print, faithfully recreating the original for home display rather than replacing it.

The craft

The oil edition of this Renoir artwork is painted by hand on canvas. A canvas art print reproduces the image in ink, with the brushmarks visible in the picture rather than raised paint.

  • Oil editions painted individually by studio artists
  • Canvas prints reproduce the image on canvas
  • Individually quality-inspected before it leaves the studio
  • Made to order in your chosen size and presentation

Materials & Care

Materials

The oil reproduction is painted on cotton canvas; the art print is printed on canvas. Rolled canvas arrives without a stretcher. Stretched canvas is mounted on a wooden stretcher frame; thin and thick frames are separate presentation choices.

On request, the studio provides a certificate for your hand-painted reproduction; it certifies the studio's work, not an original by the artist.

Care

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid cleaning products, prolonged direct sunlight and damp conditions.

Sizing

Choose a size and presentation in the options above. Both editions keep the original image proportions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes can I order this reproduction in?

This piece is available in a range of standard canvas sizes, and custom dimensions can be arranged on request. No verified measurements survive for the original at the Phoenix Art Museum, so we size the reproduction to suit your wall rather than matching an unconfirmed figure.

Can I choose between a painted copy and a printed one?

Yes. We offer a hand painted oil reproduction, made stroke by stroke on canvas by a trained artist, or an archival giclee canvas print using fade resistant inks. Both are faithful reproductions, not the original work, which is held at the Phoenix Art Museum.

How long does delivery take?

Each reproduction is made to order. Hand painted oil versions take longer to complete than canvas prints because of the additional painting time involved. Once ready, your piece ships worldwide and arrives ready to hang.
