A nude woman lies stretched across a green and gold couch, her legs extended toward the viewer and draped at the ankles with a white cloth, while she rests her head on a cushion and looks toward a small table beside her. There, a clothed servant in a patterned orange and pink dress leans in to set down a cup, in the middle of pouring or serving tea from a small service on the tabletop.

Renoir bathes the whole scene in warm reds and oranges, from the heavy curtain behind the nude to the servant’s floral dress, so that the two figures, one bare and reclining, one dressed and in motion, feel woven into the same glowing, intimate interior.
