Description
Promenade Undergrowth opens onto a shaded avenue of tall trees, their canopy dissolved into a shimmer of green, gold and touches of red. Far down the sunlit path, two women in pale dresses walk beside a small child in orange, tiny figures dwarfed by the arching trunks on either side. Renoir painted the scene in 1910, a work now held by the musée Renoir, letting light break through the leaves in loose, flickering dabs of colour.
Made to order on canvas or fine-art paper as a museum-quality reproduction, its dappled green and gold light works well in a hallway or a shaded reading corner.
