Description

A dark haired woman in a loose, off the shoulder white dress rests one arm along the back of a chair, looking calmly out at the viewer. Warm gold and tan tones fill the small canvas, with a hint of red curtain showing at the top left corner.

This is Gabrielle Renard, the family’s longtime nanny and one of Renoir’s favourite late models, painted here in a small, intimate format that keeps the whole picture close and warm.
