Description
Dense trees close over a narrow path, their trunks and leaves broken into a thick weave of green and blue brushstrokes with barely a gap of open sky. A single small figure in dark clothing with a touch of red stands almost hidden among the foliage on the right.
Painted early in Renoir’s career, close to his first Impressionist exhibitions, the picture pushes the forest so close to the picture plane that individual leaves dissolve into pure texture, one of his most densely worked landscapes.
Reproduced as a hand-painted oil on canvas or as an archival canvas print, in a range of sizes, framed or unframed.
