Description

Renoir sets a mother and her young son outdoors on a sunlit lawn. She wears a flowing white dress and a dark hat trimmed with pink flowers, holding an open fan striped in pink and blue, while the boy reclines beside her in a pale blue sailor suit and straw hat.

A brown and gold rooster struts across the grass to their right, and a slender tree trunk rises behind them, with red blossoms glimpsed in the upper corner. Loose, feathery brushstrokes of green dominate the garden setting.
