Description
A close-knit group of women and girls in white headscarves and peasant dress gather together, heads tilted and turned toward one another as if sharing a joke, their animated faces caught in warm touches of red and flesh tone against a dark, shadowy background. One girl at the left leans forward, blowing on a flower held between her fingers, while the others crowd close behind her.
The dark ground and loosely blocked-in figures give the scene an informal, spontaneous feel, with the white caps and headscarves standing out as bright accents against the deep brown and green shadow. The original is held in the collection of the William Morris Gallery. Offered here as a hand-painted oil reproduction on canvas, or an archival canvas print made with fade-resistant pigment inks, available in a range of sizes.
