Description

A seated nude bather turns her head down and to the side, gathering her long brown hair in one raised hand while the other rests on a white cloth draped across her lap and knee. She sits against a warm, dark background where a straw hat trimmed with red flowers glows softly to her left. Her rounded, softly lit form fills nearly the whole canvas.

Renoir builds her skin from warm, blended pinks and creams, smooth and glowing against the loosely brushed, shadowy browns and golds around her, a hallmark of his late, fuller-bodied nudes.
