Description
Renoir leads the eye down a sunlit path through a dense garden at Beaulieu, on the Riviera coast, where trees arch overhead in a blaze of gold, ochre, and orange foliage. Patches of red flowering shrubs line the path, and two small figures can just be made out strolling toward the light at the far end.
The brushwork is loose and vibrant throughout, with dabs of warm yellow and orange built up against cooler greens and glimpses of pale blue sky breaking through the canopy above. The overall effect is one of dense, sun-warmed abundance, typical of the garden scenes Renoir painted in his later years on the Mediterranean coast.
The painting is part of the collection of the Legion of Honor. What is offered here is not that original but a faithful reproduction: a hand-painted oil version on canvas, recreated stroke by stroke by a professional painter, or an archival canvas print made with fade-resistant pigment inks, available in a range of sizes from a compact piece up to a large wall feature.
