Description
Two young women sit with their backs to the viewer in a sunlit meadow at the edge of a wood. One, in a loose pink dress, has dark hair braided down her back; beside her, in a white dress cinched with a blue sash, her fair-haired companion gathers a small bunch of wildflowers. A white bonnet lies discarded on the grass in the foreground, and beyond them a path winds toward a hazy village in the distance.
Renoir frames the pair with slender tree trunks and a canopy of green, letting dabs of blue sky and golden light filter through the leaves. The palette is soft and warm throughout, pink, cream, sage green and pale blue blending in loose, feathery brushwork.
Every reproduction is a hand-painted oil or an archival canvas print, made to order in the size you choose and kept true to the proportions of Renoir’s original meadow scene.
