Description
A young woman leans back beneath an enormous pale hat, its wide brim catching the light in strokes of cream and dove grey while sprays of red ribbon trim the crown. Her reddish blonde hair falls loosely from under the brim, and her off the shoulder gown is gathered with the same coral red ribbon at the bodice.
Renoir sets this airy, almost theatrical costume against a deep teal green ground, worked in loose crosshatched strokes that read closer to pastel than dense oil paint. The result feels spontaneous, a sketch of fashion and light rather than a formal sitting.
We offer this composition as a hand painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival giclee canvas print; both are reproductions of Renoir’s original work, not the original piece itself.
