Description
Three nude goddesses stand in a loose row in a sunlit clearing while Paris, kneeling at the left, offers up the golden apple wrapped in white cloth. Above them a winged messenger, likely Mercury, floats in with drapery streaming behind him, and a swatch of red fabric lies discarded on the grass at the far right. Renoir sets the whole scene against a soft screen of trees, with a tiny classical temple glimpsed in the distance.
The figures are painted full and rounded, glowing pink and gold against the cooler greens and lavenders of the woodland, in the loose, late brushwork Renoir used for his mythological subjects in his final years.
We reproduce this painting as a giclee print on canvas or fine-art paper, preserving the warm rose and peach tones of the figures against their soft green surroundings. It is available in several sizes to suit a range of walls.
