Description

A woman with dark hair pinned close to her head sits hunched forward outdoors, her body curled over her lap in a relaxed, informal pose. She wears a loose cream-white blouse and a full blue skirt rendered in broad, sweeping strokes of violet and indigo, while behind her a loosely brushed screen of green and golden foliage fills the canvas edge to edge, with bare, unpainted linen still visible along the border.

The whole sketch is built with quick, confident strokes rather than fine detail, the blue of the skirt and the greens of the setting left to blend directly on the canvas, giving the small study an unusually fresh, spontaneous energy.

This work is offered as a hand-painted oil reproduction or as an archival canvas print, made to order in sizes that keep the proportions of the original 24.4 x 26.4 cm canvas, drawn from the version held by the Barnes Foundation.

The craft

The oil edition of this Renoir artwork is painted by hand on canvas. A canvas art print reproduces the image in ink, with the brushmarks visible in the picture rather than raised paint.

  • Oil editions painted individually by studio artists
  • Canvas prints reproduce the image on canvas
  • Individually quality-inspected before it leaves the studio
  • Made to order in your chosen size and presentation

Materials & Care

Materials

The oil reproduction is painted on cotton canvas; the art print is printed on canvas. Rolled canvas arrives without a stretcher. Stretched canvas is mounted on a wooden stretcher frame; thin and thick frames are separate presentation choices.

On request, the studio provides a certificate for your hand-painted reproduction; it certifies the studio's work, not an original by the artist.

Care

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid cleaning products, prolonged direct sunlight and damp conditions.

Sizing

Choose a size and presentation in the options above. Both editions keep the original image proportions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes are available for this reproduction?

This study is made to order in a range of sizes, keeping the proportions of the original 24.4 x 26.4 cm canvas so the composition stays balanced.

Should I choose a hand-painted oil reproduction or an archival canvas print?

The oil reproduction is hand-painted by an artist and recreates the loose, sweeping strokes of the skirt by hand, while the archival canvas print uses fade-resistant pigment inks for a more affordable finish.

How long does delivery take and do you ship internationally?

Each reproduction is made to order after purchase and ships worldwide, with tracking provided once your piece leaves the studio.
