Description
A nude woman with long, flowing blonde hair stands amid dense green foliage, tilting her head against her raised hand as she gathers a lock of hair to one side. Her other hand holds a piece of white drapery loosely at her hip, and a pale, cascading form to her right suggests falling water. Her expression is calm and faintly smiling, rendered in the warm, luminous flesh tones typical of Renoir’s later nudes.
Painted in 1906 and now in the Foundation E.G. Buhrle Collection, this 92 by 73 cm canvas belongs to Renoir’s series of classical bathers set against lush garden backdrops.
The Source is available as a hand-painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival canvas print, made to order in a range of sizes and delivered ready to hang.
