Description
A blue-and-white patterned cup and saucer anchor the left side of this still life, with two round fruits, one blushed red-orange, the other pale yellow-green, resting just in front. To the right, three small green figs are grouped together, all set against a soft olive-gold background and a pale cloth rendered in loose, warm strokes.
Painted around 1900, the canvas plays the cool blue patterning of the porcelain against the warm colors of the fruit, a favorite contrast in Renoir’s kitchen and tabletop studies. It belongs to the Brooklyn Museum.
Still Life with Blue Cup is offered as a hand-painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival canvas print, made to order in a range of sizes and delivered ready to hang.
