Description
Portrait of Madame Colonna Romano seats its subject on a green cushioned couch, a teal cap over dark hair, her loose white blouse trimmed with gold-embroidered lace at the neckline and cinched by a wide teal sash. She rests one hand in her lap over the sash’s trailing end, the other arm draped along the cushion, framed by a red wall hung with gilt-edged paintings, including a small oval portrait of a child. Renoir painted her in 1910, a picture now held by the musée Renoir, working the whole scene in warm, loaded strokes.
This museum-quality reproduction, made to order on canvas or fine-art paper, carries the rich red interior and gilt-framed detail well on a larger living-room wall.
