Description
A red haired, bearded man looks out with a faint, knowing smile, his dark coat and white cravat catching soft highlights against a plain grey background. His hair and beard are built from warm strokes of auburn and gold, the only strong colour in an otherwise muted portrait.
This is Eugene Pierre Lestringuez, a civil servant and close friend from Renoir’s circle who appears in several of his paintings from the period, painted here with real warmth and immediacy.
Reproduced as a hand-painted oil on canvas or as an archival canvas print, in a range of sizes, framed or unframed.
