Description
Dense dark pines close over a shaded lane, their canopy nearly black against patches of pale sky, while two small pale figures stand together far down the path where the trees briefly open. Warm gold light breaks through in a few scattered spots on the ground.
Painted on the Cote d’Azur, the picture stays deliberately dark and enclosed, more about the deep shade of the pine wood than the coastline it sits above, a cool, quiet contrast to Renoir’s usual sunlit landscapes.
Reproduced as a hand-painted oil on canvas or as an archival canvas print, in a range of sizes, framed or unframed.
