Description

Renoir shows a red-haired young woman standing full-length in a theatrical costume: a silvery, lavender-toned blouse and short pleated skirt cinched with a jeweled clasp, worn over white stockings and pale slippers. One hand rests on her hip, the other hangs loosely at her side.

She stands before a weathered stone column and a heavy red drapery that fills most of the background, its deep, textured folds framing her pale figure and catching warm light along the floor.
