Description
A woman in a white dress and red hat hangs washing on a line strung between an olive tree and a low fence, in the dappled shade of a grove near Le Cannet. Beyond her, a cluster of buildings with cream and pale blue walls and orange tiled roofs nestles among gnarled, twisting olive trees, with patches of blue sky breaking through the dense canopy overhead.
The everyday domestic subject is treated with the same rich, textured brushwork Renoir gave his landscapes, the olive branches rendered in deep greens against warm ochre walls. The original is held in the collection of the Barnes Foundation. Offered here as a hand-painted oil reproduction on canvas, recreated stroke by stroke, or an archival canvas print made with fade-resistant pigment inks, available in a range of sizes.
