Description
A stream lined with tall trees in cool blue-green tones runs through the heart of this wooded landscape, its surface catching soft reflections of sky and foliage. A woman in a pale dress and hat stands quietly at the water’s edge on the right, a small, luminous accent of white and blue against the surrounding greenery, while a sandy path curves away toward the far bank.
The title refers to a beal, a mill stream or water channel common in the countryside around Cagnes-sur-Mer, where Renoir spent his later years. Rendered in loose, feathery strokes of blue, green, and touches of rust, the painting captures dappled light filtering through the trees. The original belongs to the Barnes Foundation. Offered here as a hand-painted oil reproduction on canvas, or an archival canvas print made with fade-resistant pigment inks, available in a range of sizes.
