Description

A dark laundry barge sits moored along a wide, sandy embankment of the Seine, its cabin and covered deck rising against a pale, overcast sky. Other boats crowd the water further left, while on the quay a woman in a large hat walks with two small children among a handful of passersby, bare trees rising at the right edge of the scene.

The palette stays subdued, greys, olive greens and warm browns, with the sky and river bleeding into one another in a soft, misty haze that suggests a cold, quiet day on the working river.
