Description
A small, densely worked landscape from Renoir’s late years near Cagnes-sur-Mer, built from short, thick strokes of gold, rust and pink shrubbery that fill a shallow valley. A path opens between the bushes toward hazy blue-violet hills in the distance, while a slender wind-bent tree rises on the right and a few pale wildflowers dot the grass in the foreground. No figures appear; the landscape itself, warmed by a soft pastel sky, is the whole subject.
The paint sits thick on the small canvas, applied with a loaded brush in loose, almost tapestry-like patches that read as color first and form second, typical of Renoir’s final period at Cagnes.
This piece is available as a hand-painted oil reproduction or an archival canvas print, made to order in the size you choose, true to the proportions of the original painting.
