Description
A young woman seated in a low armchair holds still while an older woman standing behind her, dressed in a long green gown, gathers and pins her hair with pale flowers. The seated woman wears a loose white dress caught with a soft yellow green sash, her hands resting in her lap.
Renoir works here in soft pastel, building the scene from broken strokes of colour: an orange and gold patterned drapery falls behind the chair, the wall glows pale blue and green, and warm honey tones cover the floor.
The original is held in the Haggin Museum. What is offered here is not that original but a faithful reproduction: a hand-painted oil version on canvas, recreated stroke by stroke by a professional painter, or an archival canvas print made with fade-resistant pigment inks, available in a range of sizes to suit any wall.
