Description
This close bust-length study shows a young girl with dark hair parted in the center and swept back, her shoulders bared and wrapped loosely in a sheer white cloth. Her eyes are lowered in concentration, her head tilted forward as though absorbed in a book held just out of view.
Renoir paints her against a warm, loosely brushed field of ochre, olive, and burnt orange, the background left almost abstract so that the soft modeling of her face and shoulders carries the whole picture.
What is offered here is not the original but a faithful reproduction: a hand-painted oil version on canvas, recreated stroke by stroke by a professional painter, or an archival canvas print made with fade-resistant pigment inks, available in a range of sizes for any wall.
