Description
Sailboats with white and cream sails cluster near a stone harbor tower in this 1896 view of a coastal port, painted in soft, pastel-toned strokes. A lighthouse stands at the left, and more masts and sails gather to the right of the massive round tower that dominates the middle of the composition. The water is rendered in shifting patches of teal, pink and lavender, reflecting a pale, hazy sky above. Held by the Museum Langmatt, the picture shows the historic entrance to the port of La Rochelle, its medieval towers a favorite subject for Renoir during his travels along the French coast.
This luminous harbor view is reproduced here as a museum-quality wall-art print, offered on canvas or fine-art paper and made to order in the size and finish that suit your room.
