Description
Pink, white and yellow roses fill a dark blue vase painted with white floral patterning, a few loose pink blooms scattered on the table beside it. Green leaves and small clusters of buds thread through the arrangement, set against an olive-green wall.
Painted in 1882 and held by the Barnes Foundation, the canvas (55.5 by 46.5 cm) is a fuller, more varied bouquet than Renoir’s smaller rose studies, mixing warm pinks against the cooler yellow-green background. The print keeps the patterned blue vase distinct and legible, since its decoration is as carefully observed as the flowers themselves.
