Description
Rather than flowers, this small still life studies the vases themselves: two round-bellied ceramic pots, one larger and one smaller, each painted with light sprays of red flowers and green leaves on a pale glaze. They stand side by side on a cream-colored surface, set against a warm reddish-brown backdrop that Renoir brushes in loosely around their curved forms.
The two pots are painted with soft, economical strokes, their glassy highlights caught in a few quick touches of white, making this a quiet, intimate study of shape and glaze rather than a full bouquet. The painting is held by the Galleria d’arte moderna di Milano.
Available as a hand-painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival canvas print, made to order in the size of your choice.
