Description
This sketch-like canvas gathers several studies on one surface: in the lower half, two nude female bathers appear in soft, warm pink flesh tones, one seated and bending forward, the other kneeling with her head tilted down. Above them, Renoir sets a loosely brushed glimpse of a village, white-walled houses with orange-red rooftops under a pale blue-grey sky, with patches of green shrubbery worked in around the buildings.
To the right, a small still-life sketch of a bowl sits on its own, separated by a wide expanse of bare, warm cream canvas that Renoir left largely untouched, giving the whole sheet the informal feel of a working study rather than a finished scene. Painted in 1900 and now held at the Museo Soumaya Plaza Carso, this composition captures Renoir testing figures, architecture, and still life side by side.
Our reproduction of Studies of landscapes and nudes is available as a hand-painted oil copy on canvas or as an archival giclee print, made to order in a range of sizes and delivered ready to hang.
