Description
Two vases of cut flowers flank a woven wicker basket overflowing with a mixed bouquet: at left, a dark green vase holds tall pink and salmon gladiolus and pale asters, at right, a slender blue-patterned vase holds a rounder cluster of pink, white, and deep red blooms. A white pedestal bowl heaped with apples and pears sits toward the right, with loose grapes scattered across the table in front, all set against a warm, softly lit brown background.
The abundance of flowers and fruit spread across a wooden shelf reflects Renoir’s love of rich, layered still life arrangements, painted with loose, confident color. The canvas is held today at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Still Life with Flowers and Fruit is reproduced as a hand-painted oil on canvas or as an archival canvas print, made to order in a range of sizes and delivered ready to hang.
