Description
Painted in 1897, this half-length nude shows a young woman asleep with her head tipped back, both arms raised behind her hair and one hand cupping her cheek. She reclines against a deep orange-red cushion, a length of loosely gathered white fabric with an embroidered, jewel-toned hem draped across her lap. Warm russet curtains fill the background, their vertical folds echoing the curve of her raised arms. Renoir builds her skin in soft, luminous strokes of cream and rose against the surrounding warmth of red and gold. Often known as La Baigneuse endormie (The Sleeping Bather), the painting is held in the Oskar Reinhart Collection Am Romerholz in Winterthur.
This reproduction is offered as a museum-quality canvas or fine-art print, made to order, its warm, intimate palette suited to a bedroom or a quiet private sitting room.
