Description
Renoir sets this small oil sketch on a sunlit village lane, its sandy road curving past a tall screen of dark trees on the left and a row of warm ochre house walls on the right. A horse and cart stands quietly midway down the street, dwarfed by the buildings, while a strip of pale blue sky opens above the rooftops and chimneys.
Painted in 1872, the scene is built with loose, rapid strokes typical of Renoir’s early open-air studies, where dappled light and long shadows do more work than fine detail.
This reproduction of Rue de village, Louveciennes is available as a hand-painted oil copy on canvas or as an archival giclee canvas print, made to order in a range of sizes and delivered ready to hang.
